Advanced Placement

The information below identifies how credit is awarded for each of the Advanced Placement content areas. Â鶹ÊÓƵ awards 4 credits for each Advanced Placement exam when a score of 4 or 5 is earned. Students may count up to a total of 31 credits from Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and other non-course credits towards the 120* required for graduation.

Note: Credits from any one AP exam may be used to apply only one general education area or a degree ( or ). If an AP subject has more than one area listed you can choose where you would like it to apply. Â鶹ÊÓƵ's general education requirements (Â鶹ÊÓƵ Curriculum) includes six modes of inquiry and two areas of diversity studies. *Students graduating from Â鶹ÊÓƵ prior to Fall 2026 must earn at least 125 credits.

  • Arts/Music

    The following AP exams will be awarded 4 credits of the indicated course (if a score of 4+ is earned) and may fulfill the General Education area(s) indicated. Credits from these AP exams do not meet requirements toward a BA or BS. 

    AP Art History:  elective (fulfills CS or VP)

    AP Studio Art 2-D Design:  elective (fulfills CS)

    AP Studio Art 3-D Design:  elective (fulfills CS)

    AP Studio Art Drawing:  elective (fulfills CS)

    AP Music Theory:  (fulfills CS)

  • English

    The following AP exams will be awarded 4 credits of the indicated course (if a score of 4+ is earned). Credits from these AP exams do not meet requirements toward General Education or a BA or BS. 

    AP English Language and Composition: elective

    AP English Literature and Composition: elective

  • History and Social Science

    The following AP exams will be awarded 4 credits of the indicated course (if a score of 4+ is earned) and may fulfill the General Education area(s) indicated. 

    *Course may count toward the BS degree. 

    AP African American Studies: elective

    AP Comparative Government and Politics*:  elective (fulfills IS or GP)

    AP European History:  (fulfills VP or GP)

    AP Human Geography: elective (fulfills IS)

    AP Macroeconomics*: elective (fulfills IS or QR)

    AP Microeconomics*:  elective (fulfills IS or QR)

    AP Macroeconomics & Microeconomics*: ECON 210 and ECON elective, if both taken and 4+ earned on each (fulfills IS or QR)

    AP Psychology (score of 4)*:  elective (fulfills IS or NW)

    AP Psychology (score of 5)*:  (fulfills IS or NW)

    AP United States Government and Politics*:  (fulfills IS or US)

    United States History:  (fulfills VP or US)

    World History:  (fulfills VP or GP)

  • Math and Computer Science

    The following AP exams will be awarded 4 credits of the indicated course (if a score of 4+ is earned) and may count toward the BS requirement or fulfill the General Education area(s) indicated.

    The following AP exams will be awarded 4 credits of the indicated course (if a score of 4+ is earned) and will fulfill the BA requirement. Credits from these AP exams do not meet requirements toward General Education.
